چکیده

GE Healthcare, Waukesha, USA A new ToF-PET/MR scanner has recently been deployed at the University Hospital of Zurich for clinical evaluation purposes. The goal of the present work was to compare the image quality obtained on this system with that of equivalent state-of-the-art standalone scanners. The GE Signa PET/MR is a whole-body scanner combining a 3T wide-bore MR system with a 25 cm PET detector ring based on SiPM technology and mounted on a customized radiofrequency coil. MR image quality of this system was tested by scanning two volunteers: One with a brain protocol and another with a whole-body protocol. The same scans were repeated before and after PET detectors were installed on the system. A baseline measurement was acquired on a Discovery 750w scanner with the same volunteers. PET image quality was tested on patients referred for an FDG PET/CT scan. After 15-20 minutes of PET/CT, the patients were moved to the PET/MR, where an equivalent acquisition was performed. Data were reviewed by nuclear medicine and radiology physicians. As seen in Figure 1, MR image quality in the brain is identical between PET/MR (preand post-insert) and

Dynamic comparison of PET imaging performance between state-of-the-art ToF-PET/CT and ToF-PET/MR scanners

GE Healthcare The goal of the present work was to determine the potential for dose reduction in a new clinical ToF-PET/MR scanner. This was achieved by means of long dynamic phantom acquisitions designed to provide a fair comparison of image quality and lesion detectability, as a function of activity, between the new PET/MR system and a state-of-the art PET/CT. A NEMA body phantom was scanned, ...

Image quality assessment of LaBr3-based whole-body 3D PET scanners: a Monte Carlo evaluation.

The main thrust for this work is the investigation and design of a whole-body PET scanner based on new lanthanum bromide scintillators. We use Monte Carlo simulations to generate data for a 3D PET scanner based on LaBr3 detectors, and to assess the count-rate capability and the reconstructed image quality of phantoms with hot and cold spheres using contrast and noise parameters. Previously we h...

Dose Optimization in TOF-PET/MR Compared to TOF-PET/CT

PURPOSE To evaluate the possible activity reduction in FDG-imaging in a Time-of-Flight (TOF) PET/MR, based on cross-evaluation of patient-based NECR (noise equivalent count rate) measurements in PET/CT, cross referencing with phantom-based NECR curves as well as initial evaluation of TOF-PET/MR with reduced activity. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 75 consecutive patients were evaluated in t...

Quantitative myocardial blood flow imaging with integrated time-of-flight PET-MR

BACKGROUND The use of integrated PET-MR offers new opportunities for comprehensive assessment of cardiac morphology and function. However, little is known on the quantitative accuracy of cardiac PET imaging with integrated time-of-flight PET-MR. The aim of the present work was to validate the GE Signa PET-MR scanner for quantitative cardiac PET perfusion imaging. Eleven patients (nine male; mea...
